Clemson has slide three spots in the polls in large part of their underwhelming performances in the early portion of their schedule. Now they get a stern test as they go into Yellow Jacket (3-0) territory. 7: 30 PM start on Thursday the 22nd of September for this key ACC matchup. Tigers are almost ten point road favorites here. Is this line warranted or does the home dog rule this day here at the HRW?
2016 Clemson Georgia Tech Prediction : Real Weakness is..
Wide receivers seemed to have cured their penchant for dropping passes in the first two games. This should be taken with a grain of salt however because Clemson’s last opponent was of the FCS variety. While this is the cosmetic fix, their is a fault with this Tigers team that will bite them in 2016. Too many of their defensive players graduated and headed to the NFL last year. Foundation players like Corey Crawford, Vic Beasley, Shaq Lawson, and Kevin Dodd is going to take the starch out of them in clutch times. Now this is not to diminish the value and progress of Scott Pagano at DT or the super freshman named Dexter Lawrence but this team is going to have some growing pains against teams with a dynamic offensive philosophy.
Home Field is Key
Bobby Dodd Stadium has been sort of a burial ground for the Clemson Tigers the last decade. Program has not beaten Georgia Tech in their crib since 2003. It was also the venue that DeShaun Watson had that knee injury during his freshman year. Key to the Yellow Jackets success has been long drives. The option gives them the jail break ability with any play and now they also have the consistency to move the sticks with ease. Almost 250 yards on the ground comprises a good chunk of their near 400 yards in total offense. Do not make the mistake in thinking that this years Clemson defense will be able to stuff the Yellow Jackets option.
