NHL Free Pick : Detroit at Chicago 3/6

NHL Free Pick : Detroit at Chicago 3/6

HRWager’s NHL Free Pick looks at the dynamic in play for the return engagement of Detroit at Chicago on March 6th.  Less than a scant five days ago, the Blackhawks held dominion in Detroit and coasted to a 5-2 rout of the Red Wings.  Can the Winged Wheel regroup in time to make it a realistic contest in Chicago?  This 5PM game on Sunday has the home team near a -165 home favorite.  Which way will the winds of profit blow in for us off of Lake Michigan in this game?

Red Wings are the first ones to admit that the tempo of the game greatly benefited the Blackhawks.  Kane in particular had too easy of a go of it against Detroit.  An early goal by Chicago started the fireworks but scoring twice as a result of a 5 on 3 advantage virtually salted the game away at 3-0.  Throwing extra attention on Kane might be counter productive as Panarin and Anisimov are quite adept themselves on this stellar line.  Corey Crawford in goal stonewalled the Wings in key moments.  He got rest against Boston in the next game that Chicago ended up losing.  Crawford is back in goal for this one.

Mrazek’s Movement

The Detroit goaltender has been letting in more goals than usual during this recent stretch.  A nagging groin injury is limiting his movement and it has shown in the form of three five goal games in his last six starts.  This is a stark departure from his 1.22 gaa in the thirteen games previous to that.  Brad Richards is the only hot goal scorer that the Red Wings have right now.  Bad luck that he was a former Blackhawk last year.  If any team knows how to contain him, it will be Chicago.

Too much credit to the road team here.  In this situation until Mrazek proves his lateral movement, the Blackhawks should be near -200 here.  For those that do not like wagering lines near -165, we suggest you parlay our NHL Free Pick of the Day with some other of your sport’s investments this weekend.  Broaden your portfolio at HRWager by betting Chicago ML in their game on March 6th.

HRWager clients are looking to end the weekend on the winning side with our NCAAM Betting Angle.  The game under the microscope is Wisconsin at Purdue.  Both teams still have plenty to play for.  So with relevant effort, this game becomes more predictable.  How will a red hot Badgers team do at Purdue where they have historically suffered?  The spread is hovering around six points for this evening game on March 6th!

NCAAM Betting : Seeding Ramifications

The true race for chair when the music stops at the end of the Big Ten season is for fourth place.  Any team in that slot or above gets a double bye for the conference tournament.  A whole flood of scenarios makes it difficult to forecast but without a win, Purdue can easily find themselves playing an extra game next week.  Not an enviable task for a team that could win the tournament title.  Here we have the Boilermakers with good height especially with an over seven footer coming off the bench.  Only the one guard under six foot is exploitable for any sort of post up game.  Purdue must clean the glass well not only  to win at home but cover the -6 given to them by the linesmakers.

Badger Efficiency

How good has Wisconsin been in their 11-1 Big Ten run?  Experts have crunched the Ken Pom for that period of time and this is what they got.

  1. Efficiency on Offense : 117.1
  2. In Defense : 91.2
  3. Differential is 25.9

This would be the third highest rank in the nation behind only Kansas and Michigan State.  It is not that the Badgers played the scrubs.  Maryland, Iowa, Michigan State, and other Big Ten powers were in this stretch.  With momentum being this strong, the trend is too potent to ignore.

Easiest play of the weekend is right before your eyes.  A very hot team playing this efficient is not going to just collapse because Purdue is a tough place to play for them.  This and they get plus six points puts a bow on this gift from the linesmakers.  HRWager’s NCAAM Free Pick of the Weekend is Wisconsin plus the points.  Tune in at 7:30 PM on the 6th for this bankroll bonanza.
