These are two of the best programs in college football, and both have passionate fan bases that will likely pack the 70,000+ Mercedes-Benz Stadium on August 31, 2019, creating a bowl-like atmosphere.
Now, Alabama is leading the series between these two teams 3-1.
The last time these squads faced each other on the gridiron was back in 2010, with the victory going for Alabama 62-13.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Although Alabama has defeated Duke 3 times, they are coming from a loss at the National Championship game back in January, which they lost to the Clemson Tigers 44-16.
Crimson Tide is a team with one of the best rosters in NCAA college football and, even though they had some significant departures (Josh Jacobs and Damien Harris), they are still quite capable of winning games. Because they still count with players such as Najee Harris, who’s likely to be taking on the starting quarterback role for the Crimson Tide.
Duke Blue Devils
The Blue Devils are coached by David Cutcliffe, an Alabama native who got injured playing high school football, an event that prevented him from playing with the Crimson Tide.
Nick Saban, Alabama’s coach, had some great words of praise for Duke’s coach, saying that “We have a tremendous amount of respect for David, and he’s offensively probably one of the best minds in this era of our game.”
The Blue Devils will be quite young this season as the team is facing a lot of injuries within its roster.
Plus, they experienced some significant departures to the NFL.
And so they are rebuilding, trying to create the same kind of capable roster that has kept this team as one of the ablest ones in college.
The good news is that they still count with great running backs such as Brittain Brown and Deon Jackson, making their rebuilding process a lot easier.
