Baseball Pick : Detroit @ Angles 5/31

HRWager’s Baseball Pick of the day looks at the continued collapse of Detroit (24-26) when they visit Los Angeles.  Hard to believe that one team has the number of another this much but LAA (23-28) has been cashing checks at the expense of the Tigers for almost five years.  Last night saw that continued trend as a pitching duel got derailed for five runs in the bottom of the eighth in 5-1 LAA win.  More of the same today or can the Tigers find they cure at the expense of Hector Santiago.

 

Baseball Pick : Slumps

Both the pitcher that are making their ways to the mound this evening are in quite a tailspin.  Santiago of the Angels is posting a run higher earned this year than career norms.  His HR/9 ratio is at 1.8.  Recent starts have seen him continually get racked up.  Problems include falling behind in counts and then not have his top shelf stuff to dig him out of the holes.  All of this and the Angels are still near a -120 favorite in this one.  Main reason is that the pitcher for the visitors is on an even worse recent stint that he is.

Detroit Falling Apart

1-14 in their last fifteen visits to Anaheim.  Even a gem like what Verlander threw for seven innings was wasted.  Now Detroit gets to throw a very cold Sanchez into the fire.  3-6 with an over six ERA has seen him lose four out of his last five starts.  Everyone of those outings saw the opposition score at least four runs.  He has also given up a lot of long balls this year.  Opposition has hit 11 of them off of him and we are not in June yet.  Person that could come into play tonight is Pujols.  He is 7 for 22 off of him and has nine RBIs in his last eight games.  Look for the Angels offense to get well this evening.

ML of -120 on Santiago is not something one wants to venture into.  +170 runline is a much better better on the Angels if you want to bet on the streak continuing.  On that note, the steam for this game is on the total.  It has gone from 8 to 8 1/2 and has not stopped there.  Chalk is at -110 on the over 8 1/2 and one can clearly see why it is still being bet up.  Bad pitching all around in this one.  Free Pick to profit by is the over on the total for the Tigers at the Angels on 5/31.  Good fortune and we will see you tomorrow here at  HRWager.
