Boxing News : Light Heavyweights

Light heavyweights start us off with a very compelling fight that is almost here.  Sergey Kovalev is a 30-0-1 with 26 KO force of nature.  Product of Eastern Europe who has an ultra aggressive style combined with the best power in the class.  Here he is waiting for Andre Ward.  Andre has the class and sheer talent to keep up with Sergey but their bout is dependent on Ward winning his August 6th fight.  If he can do so then these two are penned to collide on November 19th in Las Vegas.  Bout of the year potential here for both entertainment and profit taking.

Other Top Tier Bouts

Most of the other weight classes have their own intrigue as well as August and beyond approaches.

  1. Super Fly Weight Roman Gonzalez has the strongest chin at his level. “Chocolatito” is going to put it all on the line when he faces the champ, Carlos Cuadras, on September 10th.
  2. Gennady Golovkin is putting his 16 successful title defenses on the line against Kell Brook.  Might not be as competitive as the other bouts but this London date on September 10th has the 22KO streak of the champ at risk.
  3. Terrence Crawford.  Out of all the perspective Manny Pacquiao opponents, this one would be the best.  He dismissed Postol last week in what should have been the elimination bout for Manny’s comeback on November 5th.

A great combination of personalities and power highlight the future in boxing.  Will Manny step up and take on Crawford?  GGG will be watched to see if his legendary streaks continue.  Kovalev is a force of nature in the light heavyweight division that only a talent like Andre Ward could beat.  Stay tune to HRWager each and every day for updates in your favorite sports.  Good fortune and we will see you next time here at the HRW.
