Detroit-Chicago : Free Pick for July 21st

A dome of heat has descended on the Detroit-Chicago game this evening at 8PM.  Good morning and welcome back to HRWager.  Much of the United States is seeking to escape a heat wave that is gripping much of the nation.  The Windy City is firmly in the middle of it.  See how the weather forecast fuels our free pick of the day for July 21st here at the HRW.

Detroit-Chicago : Corn Sweat

With much of the heartland devoted to growing crops, corn sweat has been dominating the news.  The tendency of this plant to add to the conditions to make weather even more sweltering has caused the Mid West to soar in temperature and humidity.  Chicago is feeling the brunt of it this evening.  Game time will have inflated temperature plus humidity level.  Breezes forecast out towards left field in excess of ten miles per hour.  While not exactly the strongest of gales, it will be enough to propel balls out of the park this evening.

Fade Pelfry Not Shields

An imbalance in pitching momentum for this one.  Jamie Shields has not been great this year but his last three starts has seen stark improvement.  Just a shade over two ERA with a WHIP of 0.88 is stellar considering that he has six walks in the last three starts.  Meanwhile, Pelfry is one of the stronger fades out there.  Detroit’s starter is even worse for wear in his last three.  Ten walks and a 1.86 WHIP in normal situations does not bode well.  Give him this environment where mistakes will be punished and its either the longball or more walks for him.  Offensive explosions are set for this evening.

Total of 10 to 10 1/2 is the bar for this one.  Over has been getting the love but with Jamie Shields getting the start, this wager is a pass.  Instead, opt for the over team total on the White Sox.  Good fortune and we will see you later today here at HRWager.
