Golf Free Picks : Big Boys are Back at Zurich Classic 4/27

Suffice it to say that our Golf Free Picks will not feature Charley Hoffman this week.  A very steady golfer who benefited from the absence of Top 10 golfers to win the Texas Open this week.  The PGA shifts to bayou country as the Zurich Classic is now upon us.  Stronger field is in contention at the TPC New Orleans starting on 4/28.  Good Morning and welcome to HRWager, today we look at who the favorites are, some darkhorses, and how we all can profit from this week’s golf event.

Golf Free Picks : What We Looked For

Golf Free Picks 4/27

A longer course greets out handicapping purposes this week as this course measures in at over 7,400 yards.  We will get to see the defending champion here to defend his title.  Justin Rose had an incredible streak of 66 straight holes with a bogey here to win  Jason Day also makes the trek.  World #1 is eager to see how the reset button will effect him after taking a week off from that RBC Heritage choke job.  All this is nice but the type of golfer we need to tail are those birdie machines as the winning mark here is typically 20 under par or lower.  These are the stats which were referenced for our picks this week.

  1. Birdie or Better Percentage 50-125 yards
  2. Stroke gained : tee to green
  3. Par 5 scoring
  4. Par 3 scoring range of 200 to 225 yards

Consistent Layout

The ability to think outside the box or conjure up saves is not rewarded here.  This long drive play with wedge talent as these holes are similar yardage wise. Futures wagering should have your consideration in this order

  1. Justin Rose +750
  2. Daniel Berger +1900’s
  3. Jason Day +490

Two favorites with a dark horse wedged in.  Everyone else futures wise to win this event will not pay off over the long run.  For H2H matchups, Charley Hoffman is the fade.  He is consistent but this course is for those that can rack up the birdies.  Billy Horschel -110 over Charley Hoffman  first round is your play of the day for immediate profit.

Golf Channel has four days of coverage with Thursday 3PM EST starting their coverage  CBS will have their usual role on Saturday and Sunday to close out a champion.  For those that like long shot futures, Daniel Berger is your man.  Big names should do well here because their are just a few in a thin field after them.  Fade Charley Hoffman right out the gate for our free pick heads up selection.  Good fortune and we will see you later today here at the HRW.
