March Madness : (1) North Carolina vs (6) Notre Dame 3/27

Getting to triple digits in the Elite Eight is a college basketball harbinger that is hard to ignore.  Good morning and welcome the HRWager.  We were witness to North Carolina going century in a 101-86 win over Indiana that bounced the Big Ten from this tournament.  Now the Tar Heels get the gold of the Fighting Irish to contend with.  Last qualifier for the Final Four will also be from the ACC in this approx 8:40 start.  Can Carolina cover the -9 that the books initially gave them in the early hours of betting on this big game?

March Madness : How The Tar Heels Move on

March Madness 3/27

Marcus Paige hitting his shots is the icing on the cake for this very strong team.  His caliber of talent before this year had him in the discussion for the player of the year award.  Slow start and Buddy Hield derailed this but the senior guard is feeling it when it counts.  Against Indiana, His six of nine from downtown gave him 21 points.  When Indiana was covering him, he distributed the ball for six assists.  Finally, he held onto the ball with zero turnovers.  Kennedy Meeks and Brice Johnson have the edge in the frontcourt in this one.  After their last meeting with the Irish, it is hard to see how Notre Dame makes headway here?

78-47

There is no wiggle room in this score.  It happened on March 11th.  Most if not all of the key players are here.  What is different this time to prevent an outcome like this from happening again?  VJ Beachem will have to hit everything in sight to pry open the interior defense with his outside shooting.  Zach Auguste and his teammates might be beyond being overwhelmed in this one.  Combine all of this with their 155th ranked team defense and the Fighting Irish are in for a long night.

For all the talk of upsets, form has been obeyed in the second weekend.  ACC has controlled almost all of this tournament.  It took the likes of Oregon to derail Duke.  In this conference matchup, Notre Dame simply has not improved enough to warrant the faith of keeping this under double digits.  Tournament games are normally tighter but the deeper Tar Heel team is also playing better of the two here.  Free Pick for this one is the Carolina Cover minus the points.  Good fortune to the favorites on Sunday and we will see you later on here at HRWager.
