MLB All-Star Game Gambling Odds: The Starters
These are going to be the starters for the upcoming Midsummer Classic:
MLB National League Starters
These are the starters for the National League team:
Catcher: Wilson Contreras of the Cubs: It will be the second year as an All-Star starter for Contreras, and he’s earned his ticket, as he’s performing like never before, coming up with career highs across the board.
First Base: Freddie Freeman of the Braves: This is also going to be the second straight start for Freeman, and it will be his third All-Star appearance. He had a small margin of victory, but he managed to beat names like Josh Bell.
Second Base: Ketel Marte of the Diamondbacks: He’s been given the chance of being a starter after hitting an amazing 20 home runs this year, including a record-breaking 482-foot blast back on May 28.
Third Base: Nolan Arenado of the Rockies: He’s an All-Star veteran, with 5 consecutive appearances, and 3 straight starts. He’s definitely earned his ticket once again as he leads the NL third basemen with 19 home runs.
Shortstop: Javier Baez of the Cubs: He’s going to be starting for a second consecutive year, but at a different position. He was the MVP runner-up back in 2018, and with 19 homers this season, he’s definitely earned another shot as a starter.
Outfield:
- Christian Yelich of the Brewers
- Cody Bellinger of the Dodgers
- Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Braves
MLB American League Starters
These are the starters for the American League team:
Catcher: Gary Sanchez of the Yankees: He’s considered the most dangerous slugging catcher in the league, and it currently ranks second in the AL with 23 home runs.
First Base: Carlos Santana of the Indians: He’s going to be the first baseman from Cleveland to start this yearly match in 20 years. And the reason he’s been chosen is that he’s been phenomenal, leading the team with 18 home runs, and posting a career-high .951 OPS.
Second Base: DJ LeMahieu of the Yankees: He previously was a starter for the NL league with the Rockies, and now he’s been given a shot at the starter position for the AL in what’s his first season as a New York player.
Third Base: Alex Bregman of the Astros: Last year was his first All-Star appearance, and he finished as the MVP of that game. But this is his first time as a starter, and with good reason, as he’s been the top man for the Astros, with 22 home runs this season.
Shortstop: Jorge Polanco of the Twins: This is going to be his first All-Star appearance, and his career-high 11 homers earned him a spot as a starter at the Midsummer Classic.
Outfield:
- Mike Trout of the Angels
- George Springer of the Astros
- Michael Brantley of the Astros
