Playoff implications dominate HRWager’s NBA Free Pick for 3/8.  Atlanta (35-28) has ventured forth for a long roadtrip out west that continues out at Utah (29-33).  Both teams are still in the playoff race.  The Hawks position is much more tenable than the Jazz at this point.  Linemakers have given the Jazz the edge tonight to the tune of – 1 1/2 points.  Which way will the winds of profit come from tonight at 9PM?

NBA Free Pick : Fruitful Journey

When the only pothole on the journey is an overtime loss at the Warriors, a road trip can be judged as productive.  Hawk fans saw the Los Angeles sweep of the Clippers and Lakers after that Golden State loss.  Now Atlanta has been rested since Saturday night to take on the Jazz.  They are in fifth spot in the East, two games out of the fourth seed but having a slender 1/2 game sliver over the Hornets.  Tonight, they face a motivated force in Shelvin Mack.  Utah is not a prime time destination for NBA players, so the traded Hawk will make it his mission this evening to utilize retribution upon Atlanta.

Utah Free Fall

Good news is that Houston is in front of them.  The dysfunctional Rockets are  just a game and a half in front of them.  Bad news is that Utah is worse than them at the moment going 3-7 in their last ten games.  Derrick Favors found his scoring touch against New Orleans as he poured in 28 points and 11 boards for that key win.  Utah will need it because the Hawks have been playing really strong team defense as they have the best team stats in this for the last two months.

Two pivotal factors here.  Jeff Teague will be on the court for Atlanta and he averages 23 points and eight assists against the Jazz.  For Utah, Rudy Gobert has been playing well offensively lately but the front court for the Hawks is a formidable challenge this evening.  All this equates to the road team playing well here.  Utah is a tough venue but the Hawks are more than up for the task this evening.  Go with the Atlanta ML as it is your HRWager NBA Free Pick of the day.
