NBA Preview : Hawks at Cavs Game Two 5/4

NBA Preview 5/4

Cavs did not get caught is our NBA preview theme going into their Game Two against the Atlanta Hawks.  Cleveland dominated the action for three quarters but then fell asleep at the wheel.  Some sloppy play let the Hawks play tug of war with the lead for much of the fourth quarter.  However, when push came to shove, the true colors of both franchises came out.  A late Hawks collapse not only gave Cleveland the win but the ATS cover as well.  Now we get to examine the a -7 spread that the home team has in this game that tips off at 8 PM.

NBA Preview : Interior Defense

Defense won it for the Cavs and especially by the frontcourt.  Al Horford went 4-13 with Kevin Love being the main defender.  Paul Millsap was consumed by Tristan Thompson and shot under 33 percent. In particular, Kevin Love’s willingness to slug it out down low even when he himself had an off night displays the continued value he has for the team.  If this trend continues to happen, another sweep could be in the works this season.

Hawk Can Not Keep it Up

Dennis Schroder was the man for Atlanta in Game One and his performance was wasted.  He got 27 points and shot 5 for 10 from three point land.  This long range dimension should trend down for two reason.  First is that the Cavs will game plan for it because few expected it from Dennis.  Why?  Because he shoots barely above 30 percent from that area of the floor.  With him playing more to his norm, this puts even more pressure on Jeff Teague to be everything for the Hawks.

Only aspect that is worrisome for Cleveland going on is the state of LeBron’s jumper.  Teams can just lay off and they did in Game One.  If not for his rep and willingness to drive to the rim, he might actually struggle for offense here.  No way the Cavs lose focus like they did in Game One.  Look for a double digit win here.  HRWager’s Free Pick to Profit By is the Cavs -7.  Good fortune and we will see you tomorrow here at the HRW.
