NHL Betting : Washington at LA 3/9

NHL Free Pick

The NHL betting angle is the extended road trip and condensed schedule of the Capitols.  Washington has added Stanley Cup experience by adding a pair of former Los Angeles skaters.  Mike Richards in particular will want to show his former team they made a mistake by dumping him by terminating the contract.  Even with all of this, the Capitols are near a +110 underdog because of long road trip.  What considerations are the linesmakers giving to the Kings this evening?

NHL Betting : Best Team in the League

49-13-4 with a 7-3 recent run in their last ten have Washington winning the first two of this four game trip.  They won at Boston then traveled cross country and escaped Anaheim with a 2-1 win.  Five games in seven days is going to be a test for this talent.  How the attrition has manifest itself is in one goal games.  Washington has been in eleven straight games where the margin of victory has not been by two or greater.  This has greatly effected the penchant of the Caps winning games and covering pucklines.

LA’s Pattern

Kings are 39-22-4 with a pattern emerging for them as well.  When the Kings hold their opponents to two goals or less, they have won their last six.  This is where LA has their core identity and where they start to pour it on late in the season.  They know that few if no teams can do this over the course of the whole year.  LA has made it an art of hitting the afterburner in the second half of the year with strong defensive efforts.  This is the reason why the total stands at five goals for this one because the home team is expected to dictate the pace here.

A lot of games in a short period of time.  Middle of an opposite coast road trip.  Finally, a strong defensive team playing well as of late.  These are the reasons why one of the better teams in the league is an underdog in LA.  Linesmakers have it right for this game.  HRWager’s NHL Free Pick of the Day is the LA Kings ML.  Good fortune on March 9th and we will see you tomorrow here at the HRW.
