NHL Free Pick : San Jose at Colorado 2/24

NHL Free Pick

HRWager has detected a vulnerability that can be exploited with our NHL Free Pick this evening.  San Jose (32-21-15) skates into the thin air of the Mile High City to face Colorado (31-27-4).  The line in the sand that the oddsmakers have drawn for this one is a little on the eyebrow raising side.  The home team is getting +120 for your investment speculation.  Are the Avalanche the side to speculate on this evening?

NHL Free Pick : Inconsistent Goal Tending

San Jose could put it all together if the team could mange to get consistent goal tending.  Martin Jones is capable of one world beating game and then a string of four where soft scores are par for the course.  Their blue line ability is at least average ability.  Front skating ability is quality.  They are 3-1 in this five game road trip.  However this last leg of the trip being at high altitude will certainly have an effect on their pace of play in this.

Boost From Shane Matthias

This is a big boost for Colorado.  An oddity to consider for this game is the status of his US visa.  It is not expected to be available for him in this one.  So how will the Avs attack this game?  They could use a boost from a lackluster power play.  1 for 17 has their offense struggling for goals.  Good news is that Colorado has shown a knack at scoring on the PP against the Sharks.  7 for 15 will certainly help as the Avs will push the pace tonight.

Home underdog value against a team tired from a long road trip.  Colorado +120 screams value for our NHL Free Pick of the night.  Pace + thin air will leave the Sharks gasping and cause a few extra infractions.  Good fortune with our speculation this evening and we will see you later today here at the HRW.
