NHL Free Pick : St. Louis at Colorado 1/22

Last time out, our NHL Free Pick nailed the underdog victory by the Blues over the Red Wings.  Now St. Louis has to go west to the thin mountain air of Colorado. Key stat here is that while the Blues have won three straight that their shot differential is horrid. 67 shots they have taken while yielding 117.  Quality has something to do with it but few teams can continue to withstand this type of barrage and have success.  Their defensive rotation is a shambles.  They had only five healthy bodies against the Wings.  With the lack of oxygen in the air, their defense will be even more taxed tonight.

Colorado on a Roll

Power play has been cashing in at over twenty percent clip as of late.  Want a piece of historical trend to hang your hat on?  9-26-4 is St. Louis in Colorado.  This is about as good as it gets.  Both teams are nearly close in record.  Each team is riding a hot streak but that shot differential will spell doom as soon as the Blues get tired.  Tonight is the spot for a lean to take place.
