NHL Prediction for NY Islanders at Winnipeg 3/3
Better team weary on a road trip meets playoff dead franchise in HRWager’s NHL Prediction. Jets will probably be on the outside looking in when the Stanley Cup Playoffs start. Meanwhile, the Islanders at 75 points are holding back a horde of teams from getting that third slot in the Eastern Conference of the Metro. Four out of the five road games for New York has been wins. How much does attrition play into only a -130 road favorite in this one?
NHL Prediction : Youth Movement for Jets
Winnipeg has clearly gone to the future. Increased playing time for the young players. More importantly is the formation of the Ehlers, Wheeler, and Schiefele line is going to take on the top line of the opposition. Even role players like rookie Andrew Copp might be promoted from the fourth line. It is audition time in Winnipeg which means a tick up in goals but a lot more gaffes on defense if that is possible.
Lack of Shots
Fifth game was a clunker but the Islanders still won 3-2 in Vancouver. Flat was the team that managed only nine shots through two periods. Of greater concern is that all three of their goals were deflections off of the defense of the opposition. Lucky bounces instead of quality shots dictated this one. Standard one day off to travel and now in Winnipeg sees the Islanders being more lucky than good there. They even gave Jaroslav the night off in goal on Monday. Now he is rested up, this should be a straight forward affair.
Knowing the end is in sight is the best thing for a long road trip. Islanders are making their way back east now and have their star goalie rested. Their lead is a scant four points over the fourth place Penguins but the Islanders have game in hand. This game will get the scoring touch back for the Islanders. Defensive misplays by the young opposition will lead to many chances. HRWager’s NHL Free Pick of the Day is the NY Islanders ML. Get those investments in now for the 8PM EST start in this one.
