NHL Preview : Vancouver at Calgary 2/19
Our NHL Free Pick of the night is the rallying point of your bankroll late into the Friday night. Vancouver did not have the greatest of home stands and must now go on the road to visit Calgary. The Flames have been scoring a lot but have had their own nets wide open for exploitation. Which way will the profit blow in from for our 2/19 late night moneymaker?
NHL Preview : Bad Homestand
On three separate occasions, Vancouver lost 5-2 in a five game home stand. The goal production is below average while their netminding and defense was porous to say the least. Now they hit the road to reverse this trend at Calgary. The good news is that Calgary is equally inept at stopping the opponent. 20 goals in the last four games should give this contest a good chance on going on the over. The final nail in the coffin in this is that Calgary’s starting goaltender, Karri Romo, is out for the rest of the year with a torn ACL. So with the onus on open ice tonight, which team will be best equipped to convert the numerous chances seen in this late night game?
Flames Can Score
Here are the numbers for recent scoring prowess or lack of it.
- Calgary is getting 3.5 goals as of late.
- Vancouver chiming in with a paltry 1.8 goals
What could get the Canucks going is the putrid penalty killing of Calgary. If Vancouver is assertive to the point of being reckless, the opportunities on both sides of the puck will be there. Now is Calgary worth eating -150 or so in chalk this evening?
A lot of chalk to be had for two teams almost equally floundering. Calgary’s uncertain goaltending situation and power play can not have them at this large of a chalk favorite. Look for Vancouver to make headway in this game. Go with the Canucks ML for your NHL Free Pick of the Day.
