UFC 150 Wagering Odds

UFC Fight Night 150 takes place on Saturday, April 27th in Sunrise, Florida. There are no titles on the line in this event, but the card features a lineup of fighters who are closing in on contenders. The event will air at 9 PM EST on ESPN 3.

The main fight is a middleweight battle that features No. 4 ranked Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza (26-6-0) vs. No. 10 Jack Hermansson (19-4-0), whose star has been rising quickly as of late. Hermansson has won his last three fights, including a 49-second bout with veteran contender David Branch just one month ago.

Both Souza and Hermansson clock in at 73 in and 185 lbs, but Hermansson has a slight 5.5 in advantage in reach and is 9 years Souza’s junior. The winner of this matchup could get a shot at the winner of the Whittaker-Adesanya fight later this year for the title.

Hermansson is stepping in on short notice; Jacare was supposed to fight Yoel Romero, but Romero had to drop out due to injury.

Jacare is coming off a third-round KO victory over Chris Weidman las November. The win was a typical Souza performance, with heavy pressure on Weidman throughout the bout, forcing him on the defensive.

He has powerful punches and kicks and has secured five UFC wins via knockouts. He is at his best on the ground though – Souza is ranked number seven in submission attempts amongst all active UFC middleweights.

Souza will likely not change anything for this fight, although it will be interesting to watch how the battle plays out for these two very similar fighters. Hermansson is also very high-volume attack rate and is adept at submissions. Over his UFC career, he has landed 4.9 significant strikes per minute and attempted 1,69 takedowns per five minutes.

Since both fighters are such good grapplers, it may come down to youth – at 30 years of age, Hermansson should have much better durability and could outlast Souza if it comes to a grappling battle.

The co-main event features heavyweights Greg Hardy versus Dmitry Smolyakov. Hardy, a one time Pro Bowl defensive end for the Carolina Panthers of the NFL, is appearing in only his second UFC fight, his first being a disqualification loss to Allen Crowder back in January. Prior to UFC, Hardy had three amateur and three pro fights in his career. His overall pro record is 3-1-0.

Smoliakov, on the other hand, is 9-2-0 with five career submission wins. His last fight was a win in Kaliningrad, back in January. Smoliakov will be wise to test the conditioning of Hardy, who is still relatively new to the sport, by getting him on the ground and wearing him out.

Also on the card is Glover Teixeira vs. Ion Cutelaba and John Lineker and Corey Sandhagen, both of which were rescheduled from the UFC Brooklyn earlier this year.

Further down the card, undefeated lightweight Roosevelt Roberts (7-0-0) looks to stay unbeaten against Thomas Gifford, who is 14-7-0. Prior to his undefeated professional career, Roberts won six consecutive amateur bouts.
