Temple and Toledo Tussle in the Boca Raton Bowl
Two terrific teams that tanked in the late going are in the Boca Raton Bowl on 12/22. Toledo and Temple both got to the ten win plateau and yet are considered disappointments. Toledo in particular lost two of their last four to conference foes to get to this bowl. Talent abounds too much on one side of the ball which leads to the HRWager Free Pick to Plunder tonight. Temple’s rushing attack seems to be a big run or six rushes that net a yard or so. This is the nature of their ground game and this is what doomed them late in the season. Their defense did their job the entire season with their stellar front line. PJ Walker at QB got over 2,000 yards in the air but again this was the feast or famine approach. A lot of their offense was generated either by field position from the defense or turnovers generated by their better unit.
Toledo Can Play D Also
Temple will get the lionshare of the headlines here with their over 100 tackles for a loss but Toledo can play defense as well. The Rockets are top twenty in run stuffs and first down defensive efficiency. So the chink with the MAC team seems to be on later downs. Can PJ Walker for Temple be that dual threat with his legs on longer third down conversions than he is used to?
The offense of the Rockets never really got to go off the ground with the injuries they battled at the signal caller spot. Most expect Temple to bury the Toledo offense.
