The Ultimate FIghter 23 : Choi vs Tavares

Choi vs Tavares

Polarizing bout is on the The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale card that comes to us on Friday, July 8th.  Dana White and crew are trying to get the attention of all the American travelers as they are now home from the Fourth of July.  Choi vs Tavares will give them plenty of fireworks to end the festivities.  Good morning and welcome to HRWager.  Today we cap a three round fight in which the under 1 1/2 total is the chalk favorite.  Let us get to this projected decisive affair.

Choi vs Tavares

Doo Ho Choi at 13-1 and 2-0 in UFC is a Korean product who thrives on aggression and violence.  His two fights in the organization were knockouts whose combined time last a total of less than two minutes.  He has a complete vertical arsenal.  Heavy fast hands on both sides.  Jabs and kicks to lure people in.  Flying knee kicks to disrupt rhythm with just enough of an element of surprise.  Of all the fighters, this one will gain a lot with experience.  It is almost like he sees red in the ring and goes with the fury.  He drops key defensive elements if he gets engaged in a slugfest.

Tavares is No Slouch

When one hears fight of the year candidate, it is because they were willing to go all out.  This is what we have in Thiago Tavares (20-6-1).  Brian Ortega beat him in a wonderful match but Thiago rebounded nicely with a Guida win via chokeout.  Look for Thiago to try and get the game on the horizontal.  When he is on top, he is really a quality fighter.  Other elements of his game are merely average.  He is not going to get many to fear him with vertical striking.  His chin is somewhat vulnerable and overall he is not resilient in taking punches.

Choi is near a -200 ML favorite.  If you think he is going to win then the under 1 1/2 rounds which has far less chalk is your best option.  Tavraes supporters should just go ML on him if you thinks he can get Doo on the ground.  We think that the UFC has the best investment options by the aggression.  We like a quick fight here.  Our recommendation is the under 1 1/2 rounds.  Good fortune and we will see you next time here at HRWager.
