First heavyweight title defense as Fabricio Werdum (20-5-1) takes on Stipe Miocic (14-2). The champ is a very affordable -160 as lots of linesmakers think the challenger has more than a fair shot of taking this one down. The 38 year old Fabricio last lost to Overeem back in 2011 so to see odds this low is quite shocking. So how will the champ approach this one? Jabs and continually pressing forward. When he gets close, he uses his 6’4″ frame to exert downward pressure upon this opponent. He does a lot of damage in this range and while he has improved his wrestling, he does not want to see it taken to the ground here. Miocic is perfect for him as he has very few flaws but does little on a world class level. he tends to hang around and frustrate fighters. An experienced 38 year old should not be tempted to overextend here.
Shall the Cyborg Finish Fast?
First fight for about the only female legend missing from the UFC ranks. Cristaine Justino is better known as the Cyborg and she has lethal proficiency in her fighting style. She has been jabbering on and off for years against Ronda Rousey. Inroads have finally been made at getting her into the promotion with Brazil being the logical spot to debut here. She debuts against Leslie Smith at a catchweight of 140 pounds. The Cyborg is a massive -1600 favorite who has not had a fight go to the judges for decision since 2008. Leslie is game but alas just a glorified punching bag to demonstrate Cristaine’s prowess. The under total of 1 1/2 round is chalky at -288 and can be parlayed with other investments of yours this evening.
