US Open Oakmont Predictions 6/16
A US Open Oakmont prediction means dour struggles for most of the golfers. Good morning to all at HRWager as the PGA tour stops at one of their most difficult venues this year. This is one of the majors that changes courses each year. The philosophy in selection is to reward accurate driving. Big hitters that misfire once in a while find this major a handful each year. So let us break down the course which provide ample challenge and elevated scores starting this Thursday.
US Open Oakmont : 9th US Open
Tour organizers must like the stiff challenge this course just outside of Pittsburgh presents. This is the ninth time they have hosted the US Open which is a record. An almost as old relic will get ample coverage here as Phil Mickelson will now try to be the oldest champion here. His six runner ups ensure that he will get more than his fair share of coverage. He has not won a big one since 2013 and should not be a future investment of yours. Do not buy into the nostalgia hype with your hard earned dollars.
Big Three + Free Picks
Figures that the Big Three are the favorites for this event. The current pecking order sees Jason Day near +600 with Rory just behind him near +650. There is some daylight between those two and the final of the trio. Jordan Spieth is near +800 to win the US Open. For those that are outside the elite, we have uncovered some heads up value for the following candidates.
- Matt Kuchar hails from the area and has momentum coming in. He has had a run of Top six finished in this last four. His matchups against Adam Scott and Henrik Stenson are both chalk for him but he is a much larger favorite than the price dictates.
- Marc Leishman does his best in majors. His win at the end of 2015 has put him on our radar. He has no discernible weakness which is what we want for a H2H full tourney grinder. Underdog status against Chappell has value written all over it.
Avoid the big boomers and names like Phil for this one. Accuracy, iron play, putting, and the willingness to grind it our are the traits to bet on. Invest in our two heads up wagering matchups for high profit potential. Fox Sports 1 provides plenty of TV coverage starting at 10AM on Thursday.
