WTA Free Picks : Futures from Stuttgart 4/18

WTA Futures 4/18

Lots of wide open action for our WTA Free picks as Maria Sharapova’s absence and the clay court conditions have a wide open Stuttgart Open kicking off on April 18th.  Six of the top ten in the world are here including the defending champ.  Alas without Sharapova nor Serena, the futures market is wide open.  Good Morning and welcome to HRWager. Today we will look at some of the best values in the WTA Free Picks for this event and together formulate a high expectation plan on taking down the books this week.

WTA Futures : Down to the Grain

This tournament efforts to mimic the French Open so much that they use the exact same type of grain that Roland Garros does..  Maria had a three year run as champ here snapped when Angelique Kerber took care of Caroline  in last year’s final.   Kerber comes in as the favorite but sports a high +400 for her future in winning here.  This is a testament both of the parity of the top ten outside of Serena and that six of ten of them are playing here.  Her value goes up due to the fact that she grew up less than five hours from here in her hometown of Bremen.

Mixed Bag in Favorites

Radwanska at +550 has our attention.  Simona Halep was a lower price which is very hard to believe.  Radwanska is the #2 in the world with at least four semis in five events this year plus two semi appearances in the past at this site.  Halep is +500 is still struggling with a deviated septum.  This puts into question Simona’s staying power for the time being.  Garbine Muguzura is looking for that breakout performance.  It could come here but +600 is not enough bang for your buck to ride her here.  Shaky next couple of favorites other than Radwanska here.

DarkHorses

Two players that could catch fire and crush the field have longer prices than the favorites.  Ana Ivanovic is +1800 due to talent and a deep run here a few years back.  She has the talent to roll if she can get going in 2016.  Another stronger player that is suffering from more than the occasional mental lapse is Petra Kviotova.  Her power game gives her less margain of error than most because more balls come back to her due to the court surface.  The value of +1000 is somewhat lowered by the Madrid Championship she won last year.  If she can get hot, her total games wagers for the tourney should be bet on the low side.
